JAN JELINEK & KARL KLIEM (DE)

While STRP explores the microsound scale of Granular synthesis, WORM's happy to explore another end of the audio visual spectrum - Jan Jelinek's beguilingly rhythmic sound-play, coaxing blindingly cathartic neon light from Karl Kliem's Raster Wand Element - it's the full
tube-light experience.

Magical acts of exuberant musical transformation are Jan Jelinek's stock in trade, releasing records under a number of pseudonyms (Farben, the Exposures, Gramm) refracting loops, electronics and analogue synths into unpredictably different outcomes. His sophistication, always stunning, Jan Jelinek's loop finding jazz records, de facto concertos in musique
concrete and polyrhythmic lattices of luxuriant sound are unfettered by stylistic constraint, the plot steadily changing and unfurling into something new. Sharing modest means, such undertakings are at the core of WORM's own creative mission and identity - we happily welcome Jan to STRP.

In the last years Jan's been intensifying collaborations with artist and programmer Karl Kliem, a sophisticate in the development of realtime audio and video systems, founder of the Dienststelle label and lecturer at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach. Kliem's previously collaborated with artists such as Thomas Brinkmann, Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto and we very much look forward to experiencing the binary kosmischer pitch of his work with Jelinek.

GANGPOL UND MIT (FR)

Perfecte samensmelting tussen visueel vernuft en electronische muziek. Gangpol & Mit creëren een prettig gestoorde cartoon wereld met absurde apocalyptische vertellingen die bevolkt worden door kleurrijke, geometrische creaturen. De opzwepende muziek van Gangpol & Mit kenmerkt zich door vlotte melodieën die verschillende stijlen deconstrueren en daarna opnieuw samenvoegen.

CHRISTOPH DE BABALON (DE)

Met zijn wereldse debuut "If you're into it, i'm out of it" (DHR, 1998) verwierf Christoph de Babalon een unieke positie in het electronica gebeuren. Volgens sommigen was dit de blauwdruk voor het breakcore fenomeen. Zijn muziek manoeuvreert sindsdien behendig tussen alle trends door, en refereert aan minimalistische electro, techno en donkere ambient / drones. Onlangs bracht hij het nieuwe werk “Scylla & Charybdis” uit.

SLUB (UK)

Slub sound emerges from slub software; melodic and chordal studies, generative experiments and beat processes. Process-based sonic improvisations; live generative music using hand crafted and live coded
apps, scripts and l-systems in networked synchrony. With roots in UK electronica and tech culture, slub build their own software environments for creating music in real-time. Only custom composition and DSP software is used. Everything you hear is formed by human minds.

Slub project their screens so that the audience are able to appreciate their live software development process, which does not adhere to industry quality control standards. They communicate using OSC over UDP and eyebrow gestures. The output ranges from extra slow gabba, through intelligent ambient to acid blues glitch.
